La Colombiere, nestled in the hamlet of Lestang and set amidst rolling hills, pastures and vineyards is a picture postcard French gateway to The Périgord region, an area rich and dense with much to see and do. With visits and walks, beautiful villages, castles, gardens, and caves aplenty, but also with rivers, forests, panoramic sites, gourmet cuisine and world famous wines all can be discovered from your doorstep

Here at La Colombiere you need do nothing other than start the day with a lazy breakfast on the terrace, relax by the pool, indulge in long lunches and then at the end of the day, sit back and watch the sun set gracefully, maybe a glass in hand, before BBQing under the stars. For the more active as well as swimming there is a range of both indoor and outdoor games plus our cinema room to keep you occupied. And if this is not enough, you can also hire bikes locally.

The list of potential activities and places to visit is endless but here are a few of our favourites

Eymet, founded in 1270, is our nearest Bastide town. It has a bustling market square with a range of cafes bars and restaurants on its perimeter and surrounding streets. A visit to the weekly Thursday market is a must

The Dordogne

Whether to kayak, swim, peddle boat or see the numerous castles and villages that adorn its banks a trip to the beautiful and serene Dordogne river is a day well spent

Wine tasting

There are several great vineyards on our doorstep who offer wine tasting with Chateau Lestevenie being a particular favourite of ours.

The most Beautiful Villages celebrate the art of French living. From the rock fortress of La Roque-Gageac to the medieval splendour of Issigeac with its famous Sunday morning market.

Gastronomy

There are some amazing restaurants nearby. From Michelin restaurants to local family run cafes and their Plat du Jour. Please ask and we can recommend a few whatever your taste and budget

Fetes and Festivals

During the summer months there are plenty of day and night markets where one can buy locally produced food and wine and sit at the long communal tables. One of our favourites in the Sunday lunch market at Soumensac. held ona  grassy terrace overlooking Duras in the distance
